Georgia Tech Shenzhen Redesign

Rebuilding Georgia Tech Shenzhen's website for usability and clarity.

I co-led the redesign of the Georgia Tech Shenzhen website along with another designer, focusing on improving usability, visual clarity, and alignment with Georgia Tech’s digital identity. Through an iterative design process and collaboration with our software developers, we restructured the site to enhance content accessibility and deliver a cohesive user experience.

BACKGROUND

GTSZ Website

GT Shenzhen is an international instructional center of Georgia Tech that offers advanced graduate programs for students. After reopening in 2023, the website needed a content overhaul and a refreshed design to help attract prospective students.

I began the project with a brief review of the GTSZ website, identifying structural issues, branding inconsistencies, and informational gaps through a quick audit and comparisons with other GT sites.

Problem Statement

Users navigating the Georgia Tech Shenzhen website faced low engagement and difficulty in finding and digesting information. The absence of traditional GT branding and design elements made the site feel disconnected from the unvirsity's digital ecosystem.

After identifying the main issues with the previous site, I first created a revised sitemap to help structure our redesign process in which I reorganized content by merging pages, flagging offline links, and removing outdated pages.

The Solution

Over the course of 11 weeks, we restructured and redesigned the GT-Shenzhen website through an iterative process of designing, refining, and regularly meeting with the software developers to ensure technhnical feasibility.

The redesigned Transient Students page highlights opportunities for U.S. graduate students to study at GT-Shenzhen for a semester, take GT-taught courses, and earn credits while experiencing life in China.
